Indeed. However. Dude came into his presidency in a very bad time. I think that regardless of what happenes in the next four years, he is going to get a bad wrap regardless of the long term benefits or detriments of his adminstrations policy. In reality a president only has a limited amount of power and is a puppet for lots of other interests.
I think he will suffer the Hoover syndrome. Hoover was an extremely respected and influential politician that did a great deal of good in his endeavors before his presidency. Because he happened to be commander in chief during the depression, the anger and frustration of the American people were directed at him, even though the events leading up to the problem had nothing to do with him and all his previous moves and actions as a politician had been very helpful to the country.
It is a damed if you damed if you dont problem. Had McCain been elected i think people would feel the same way about him right now.
Again, the presidents power is very limited if you look at it from the big picture. The executive office is one of the best scapegoats for very deep problems and decisions that others in government have much more control over.
