Hello, i've been out of the car audio loop for some time now, but i'll give this a shot.

I have a Ford 1999 f-250 truck which i recently installed an Alpine cda-9835, i have boston acoustics speakers all around (not components), with no amplifiers.

I think i want to step-up to an amplifier set-up. I was thinking of getting the alpine MRV-F540 which will power boston pros for the fronts, and not sure what to get for fills(suggestions?).

I also wanted to get an alpine MRD-M300 which will power an 10" sub (boston pro as well).

Now, my question is, are the alpine amps my best choice given that the h/u has the ability to monitor/control the amps?

also I owned some boston rallys a few years ago and was really happy with them, and i'm sure technology is much better with all other brands.

Are boston pros still as good as they used to be in the 90's? or is there an alternative which sounds better?

I don't want boomy bass, i want a system that will be really responsive (good mids, punchy bass) but don't want anything to compete with, nor do i want something that will be heard a block away. I do though, want to have a great sounding system that i can enjoy for long drives as i spend most of my days driving around.

I also know that the boston pro subs are really power hungry, i want to have a small enclosure which i saw in crutchfield click here to view ithttp://www.crutchfield.com/S-9WVWkl5BUmF/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=182750&I=044CFSX056

What 10 inch sub would you reccomend that will work nicely with that alpine amp?

I know these are a lot of questions, but like i said i haven't been in car audio for some time, and don't want to make a big mistake which i will regret later.

Your thoughts/suggestions will be greatly appreciated,

j.t.

well alpine makes good amp. But u could get more for less, but if u want that feature then get the amps. I can tell that want an all out SQ system cus u keep sayin Boston. But Boston is a good brand as well but, like i said before u could get more for less. But if u want an Boston sub get the generators series.

thanks for your reply, I just brought those brands up because that's what i'm familiar with, But i'm open to suggestions. Like i said, if there is something out there that works as well , if not better, i'm all for it. What brand amps would you suggest? what 10" sub do you think will outperform the boston? Any opinions will be appreciated, as i am not up to date with car audio...thanks.

well i would need an budget and i would also need to kno how much space u want to use. And also do u want just mainstream shit or does it matter.

SQ= sound quality

which mean u want it to sound like an classical music concert hall not an rock-n-roll concert.

I'm just interested you said i could get more for less $$ i'm all open to suggestions....

as far as room i think the fronts are 5X7 (doors) rear are also 5X7...it's a crew cab so amps would go under the rear seats...and the box would go between the two rear seats. As far as budget i think i want to spend about $700 for both amps and less than $1,000 for all speakers including sub 10". I don't know specifics about dual-voice coil or whatever..i just brought up boston because of my piror experience with it..but if you'd throw a brand of speaker out there that will perform as well, for less cash..i'm all for that

instead of getting two amps just get the alpine mrv-f450 it s a five channel amp that puts out 50w X 4channels plus 200w X1 one for your sub. that will save you some dough.also you can't go wrong using that head unit with that amp. as far as the bostons are concerned i think they're a good choice for what you seem to want.

I like your selection, great deck and great amps but for bass I would have chosen the 500 instead of the 300... "personal opinion" The amps are a little more than others but can be found cheapo on ebay. All in all good stuff and choices.

well if u want to keep the amps then that ur choice. I mean it is like the ppl who pic cd player to match there interior. If u want the alpine it is a great amp.

the bostons are good but here are some that match or serpass the boston's

these are nice speaker------> http://www.cbrstereo.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=998

these 10s are nice too-----> http://www.cbrstereo.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=724

well there are othere brands but i can not find a link to them. But i would run boston pro comps up front and then some boston coaxisl in the rear.

Thanks for the input, i really do appreciate it...I will look at those links and let you know what i think, hopefully i can get them locally as i always rather do business face to face. i got burned one time buying online and i'd rather not go through it again. Anyone else's suggestions would be appreciated, as i'm open minded to any suggestions, thanks a lot,

jt.
