I have a 1 1/2 yr old red nose and he is such a disapointment. I have had him the better part of a year and he has not attacked any small children or old people. I am like WTF is all the excitement about? All I hear about is how aggressive Pitbulls are and what a bad breed they are and how alot of cities ban owning a pitbull. my 61 year old father and i was fixing some windows for npdodge,we walk in the back yard to look over everything,a 115 lb pitt from next door jumps the 2ft chicken wire and attacks my dad,with no warning.

All animals have personalities based on how they were raised.

My friend has a Napoleon Mastive... the thing is a BEAST and looks incredibly scary. And it nearly killed these FP&L guys who tried to hop the fence to check their meters. But, if it knows you aren't an intruder, you can hit it, yell at it, and do whatever (I don't-- I love that d$mn dog.) and it'll just sit there and wont' do ish. It's just really territorial. But it was raised that way.

I have a Great Dane, it can easily tear off someone's limb. Her jaws are incredibly powerful. But, we raised her to be playful and kind of encourage her curousity. She wouldn't hurt anyone... but I've also been attacked by a Great Dane. So, all animals depends on how you raise them.

95% of them is how they are raised the other 5% is just in them. Trust me I know I've had about 50 pits throughout my life.. They defintely have a bad rap like when a dog attacks someone in the news they always say its a pit even thought it a focking mutt. I have a 10 year old pit who loves puppies and most dogs but HATES people which makes for a great guard dog lol.

I do agree with what is being said though. For the most part, it is upbringing. Now some things just can't be taken out of a dog. I have Akita's and we brought them up really gentle, really nice dogs.

But last weekend we went to the dog park (been there at least 2 dozen times) and the male and the female took off after a dog after being there literally 1 minute, my female pig rolled the dog, and then my male grabbed it by the leg and started to body slam it over and over and over. This is exactly what they used to do in Japan (the female lured bears and the males attacked for hunting)

I gave the lady my vets name and number and stopped at the vet and told them I would cover all charges. 260 dollars because it had 8 punctures, had to be sedated, stiches, some sort of tube in its leg, pain meds, anti-inflamatory, anti-biotic.

My point to this story is that even though my dogs are totally calm, were raised to be very gentle, something turned on in them and they still attacked. Same thing with Pit's. I think a pit may be the one of the more loyal breeds (hell I read an article about a pit jumping through a window and dragging its owner to a door when a fire broke out) but it does not mean that they can be treated like any normal breed. They are aggresive.
