Awesome lil touchscreen that sold for well over a grand back when they first came out (2003). plus gear from this time period tends to be higher quality than the newer stuff nowa days.... it does CD's/DVD's. Somewhere on here or DIYMA there's a guy selling the Pioneer Ibus USB adapter that is compatable with this. You could use that or the ipod adapter to direct connect your mp3 players up to this and have a **** ton of music on tap instead of using cd's/dvd's. I personally love USB/Direct connect, but thats just me.
Most noteable specs for the p6500dvd:
-dual 24bit DAC's...in a direct swap with an Avic-N3(2v output, not dual 24bit), the p6500's SQ was noticably better. It also sounded better than most indash screens ive played with in recent years (including a buddy of mine's alpine IVA-D310).
-4v preamp outputs (front, rear, and sub). very few quality touchscreens with this kind preamp voltage that are under $250.
-dual zone (so you can do one video source on the main screen, and a different video source out the video outputs to another screen. awesome for having dvd up front an d video games in the back seats for the kids...etc....)
full list of specs off crutchfield:
•motorized, retractable 6.5" widescreen TFT active-matrix LCD video monitor
•touch-screen system control
•graphical user interface
•detachable control panel
•display angle adjustment
•plays DVDs, DVD-R/RWs, and VCDs (vehicle must be parked for front seat viewing)
•plays CDs, CD-R/RWs, and MP3 discs
•rotary volume knob
•Easy EQ
•Sound Focus EQ
•EQ-EX
•3-band parametric EQ
•Supertuner IIID
•18 FM/6 AM presets
•XM radio-ready (XM Radio subscription, tuner, antenna required to receive the satellite radio signal) — service is available only in the lower 48 states, not available in Alaska, Hawaii, or U.S. territories
•DVD changer/TV tuner controls
•back-up camera input
•navigation input
•audio/video inputs
•audio/video outputs
•dual-zone capability
•3 sets of 4.0-volt preamp outputs
•optical digital output for connection to an optional surround-sound processor
•dual 24-bit D/A converters
•optional auxiliary input
•wireless remote
•22 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels
•DVD signal-to-noise ratio 97 dB
•FM sensitivity 8 dBf
NOTE: the internal amp does not work, but all the preamp outputs do work. most people would want to use external amps anyhow so this feature wont be missed.
unit is 100% tested and fully functional (aside from the mentioned internal amp not working). deal comes with monitor unit, brain unit, and all wiring harnesses.... it's only missing the mounting cage and trim. both of those can be found online for cheap.
there's a few small marks here or there, nothing that major. The actual touchscreen part is on great condition. The video quality is right on par with the Alpine and Eclipse screens ive played with before...which are all noticably better than cheaper level stuff (phase linear, soundstream, jensen, etc....). I'm hosting a video of the unit being tested now, that will be posted shortly.
