Looking for some feedback/help on getting good low bass out of my setup.
My original setup was an old Alpine CD HU, 4 Clarion 3-Way 6x9's and a EL8 Amplified Bazooka Bass Tube. I recently got the Pioneer 6700MP to replace my old Alpine so I can now hook-up my iPod and play MP3 Cd's. I loved the sound of the old Alpine and worked great with my 6x9's and Bazooka tube. I was able to get heavy thunderous bass using RCA cables now I am just getting so, so bass.. more like a woofer than a sub.
Now with the Pioneer HU I have tried all the settings and adjustments and still can't get good low bass. The Bazooka tube has it's own volume control on the tube itself and I have tried adjusting that with the different settings and still no luck. I know their are tons of tweeks for the 6700MP. Does anyone have any suggestions other than seeing if Crutchfield will take this back and exchange for an Alpine? Or would removing the RCA's and wiring directly to the channels using the high output wires?
My last Alpine was plain jane... maybe simple is better.
Thanks,
John
