If there was no income tax, how do you propose roads and infrastructure get done? I suppose the gov't could go farther in debt faster, but the average consumer will be slightly wealthier.
You dont seem to understand what a flat tax based sales tax would involve. Nobody is suggesting sales tax rates would stay the same, and we'd simply remove income tax. In a flat sales tax system, the sales tax level would be adjusted to meet the spending needs of the govt.
The beauty of a flat sales tax system is, the rich would pay more than the poor, because they buy more stuff. So no, you also are incorrect in assuming a millionaire would pay the same taxes as someone making $20k a year.
Read up on proposed flat tax systems, I think you might like them.
What i can't see, is why people haven't protested the SSI tax yet. It's slated to run out of funds in the teens or twenties, or maybe it will make it to 2030. But at that point, the taxes everyone is paying now for Social Security, will not be available to you. So why are you paying this? Why is it still the "Law" to pay a tax for something won't be available. A whole lot of people are gonna be ticked off when they can't retire with SS. I know a lot of poeple that would rather put that money into an IRA account instead.
The sad part of that whole scam is, our govt claims social security is going broke because of all the baby boomers hitting retirement age. What they fail to mention is, all those baby boomers paid into SS all those years they worked. Its a smoke and mirrors game to hide the fact that our politicians have simply over spent the money coming in, and now want us to believe some BS excuse. Social security payments go into the general fund, and can/are used to pay for anything from roads and sewers, to politician's limos and election campaigns. But now that they are suppose to start paying back all that baby boomer social security, they've already spent it on their pork barrel projects, opulent retirement plans, wars, and God knows what else. You cant trust Washington, if you think you can, you are fooling yourselves.
Well they have been receiving the Bush tax cuts, and look at unemployment. Trickle down economics have never worked and never will work because it is dependent on businesses actually giving back to their employees and passing benefits on to the customer. Instead the CEO's laugh at the middle and lower class for actually believing that bs while they pocket the money, lay off employees, and ship the jobs overseas. Then on top of that they complain about the little they do have to pay in taxes and ***** about being over regulated. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
Trickle-down is not dependent on business owners simply giving back to their employees, its dependent on those wealthy business owners wanting to become more wealthy, so they will reinvest in their companies to expand, creating new jobs. A lot of people think like you, that trickle-down is simply relying on rich people to be generous, when its actually suppose to rely on them being greedy (again, wanting to increase their revenue by expanding their businesses). Im not here to debate the effectiveness of trickle-down, because that is a vast subject. I just wanted to point out your misunderstanding of its theoretical implementation.
personally i want to know why we are taxed on what we make and then fucking taxed again on what we buy?
Its called double taxation, and its a real problem inherent in our current tax system. Something that a flat sales tax would eliminate. But like I said in another thread yesterday, our politicians like having a massively complex tax system that requires us to hire a professional tax expert (CPA) to interpret for us, it keeps the average citizen ignorant to exactly how much money they pay in taxes out of every dollar earned. If people realized how little spending power they actually have thanks to our bloated tax system (and govt spending in general), a whole lot more people would be pissed than are now.
damn true. so you figure you only have about 50% of your pay after everything is done:crap:
A lot less than 50%. A lot less.
Our government has a serious spending problem, and they hide behind their complex tax system to keep people uninformed about it. Get mad guys, get very mad. You deserve to be.
