So i just installed my PDX-1.1000 . amp works great, my question is do you guys think it seems odd that to get my sub (TC9/RE hybrid made by TEAMPSI) decently loud I have to turn the gain up at least 3/4 when i have an eclipse HU with 5 volt preouts?

the sub is sealed and i have plans on going ported once i get a little bit of money but my JBL which had comparable power pushed it the same but with the gain much lower.

the gain switch is set to 1.0 - 8 V setting. should i try setting it to .1-1 v setting or would that hurt something considering i have 5 volt preouts?

^^^^^^yeah i think that sub may need more the 1000watts
ive thought of that as a possibility too cause in all honesty i dont get the excursion that alot of guys get. i think that if i go ported though that might help alot. like most of the time its loud enough, but id like to get it a little bit louder.

im going to borrow a DMM from my cousin tomorrow to check voltage but by ear it doesnt sound like its clipping. it just seemed to me like 3/4 gain was a little high but from what dippity said that made sense.

is there a sub out there you guys could suggest that could get me louder off 1000rms, assuming i got ported and still arent satisfied.

fi Q would be perfect.
are you saying that because FI is the general answer for most questions on this site or you really think it would get louder?

i think i will try ported first, then consider a new sub.

i would suggest an idmax for that amount of power. they sound good and can get loud with as low as 200 watts to 1000. it is by far my favorite sub. my best friend has one so i do have experience with the sub.

yeah Ive always thought about the IDMAX as an option. sometimes they are just a little more than i want to spend though.
