paper/kevlar cone or metal

is a paper/kevlar cone better or worse than say metal cone like alpine r what are some of the good and bad of these two. i noticed a warmer sound from paper but muddy. and a clearer but higher sound from metal like type r .
type r's dont have a metal cone, they have a non pressed paper cone with a poly dustcap.

so the dust cap is what you se on the front dumb question but there is no cone reealyy unless it is meant as under the dust cap i am cconfused on this
if the speaker has a dust cap(some have solid 1 peice cone's) it cover's the the hole in which is where the vc and motor meet. this is where the dustcap sit's

Paper cone is really the classic , and there can handle well about 1000 rms or slight higher

and is light and is able to give you a low range

i like non press paper cone .

my project is testing on non press paper cone with nano ceramic layer .

so far we have very good result .

Realistically, your comparison is in all likelyhood completely invalid at best.....that is, unless you had the opportunity to conduct a side-by-side comparison of identical subwoofers in identical alignments with the only difference between them being the cone material. Because that is really the only way your comparison would be valid. Otherwise you are attempting to draw specific conclusions regarding the sound of cone material from completely different subwoofers in completely different alignments which create dozens of different variables that affect the sound of the subwoofer/system.

And as was mentioned, the Type R doesn't use a metal cone.

For subwoofers cone material doesn't really affect the sound as long as it's durable enough to withstand the enviornment, stiff enough not to have excessive flexing or an unreasonable amount of vibration/resonances and is the proper weight for the design.

It's a different story in the higher frequencies, such as midrange. Cone material plays a much more important roll.

But for subwoofers, not really.

I was sure that the cone is meant by the part you see when looking at the front of the sub, on like a typr r.JBL s the dust cap in the middle is just that right. the cone is the paper part surrounding it?, correct. or is the part that attaches to the type r underneath what you see when lookingat the front.
