PA or Orion

the gain on both amps are on 0the gain on my headunit is at 0

meaning off as i see it atleast
Gains don't have a "zero" or an "off". You can, however, set them to their minimum setting. BUT, THIS DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE SET TO EQUAL LEVELS!!

Hence, the point I was getting at //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif You very likely have them set different, hence the differences you are hearing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Set the gains with an o-scope to just below clipping if you want your "test" to prove anything other than you simply have the amps set up differently

decision decisions.

try setting the orion to half, and setting the PA to less than half.. It won't be fair but see if you can still tell the diff.

the PA is 2300"so they say"

and the orin is 2500"so they say"

right, so it should be either the same or the orion should louder lol.

I just had a 3000db, but it was a defect and had to return it, i was gonna get an orion but you got me thinkin now. Thats a big *** price diffrence also.

I'd like to know the mic readings.lol:greedy:

not everyone has an OScope.

To get the gains pretty closely set get an Digital Multimeter and read the gain setting turtorial and you will be well on your way.

ok ill be doing all this soon, i would liek to get my hands on a mic as well to see what i hit with them.

wellt he pa is the same internals as the Planet audio.. so it only will do about 2300 at 14.4, at 12 it does aroun 2000

i heard the orion pulls off a 2500+ at 13volts at1ohm but is a huge electical monster... at 2ohms it takes more then 180amps.

dam 180A...

touch that and see how it feels, lol, scratch that u'd prolly just die instantly, lol.

I doubt it's that enneficient so, its not pullin those 180A for itsheating needs.

I had my PA hooked up and my lights didn't dim at all? Stock lincoln TC alt.

But then again the gain was only turned up not even 1/3rd of the way up cuz i didnt wanna blow the subs, but from that 1/3rd of gain it was enough to say wow, i wonder if i turn it half way or more... But im rambling soo i'll stop.

ok last thing..lol

You are getting at least 2000watts

the amp is strappable

it cost 330shipped

an orion cost 600or so shipped

u can buy two PA's for 660

and have at least 4000watts.

But the only true way to compare the two amps is by setting the gain with an o-scope to just below clipping (as one may actually be able to put out more power than the other before clipping...or, one may not be able to do rated power without clipping //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif And, to do a fair test, you need to be sure that neither amp is clipping and that they are putting out their maximum unclipped power).

Otherwise, it's all just inaccurate "guessing" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
