hi dears

what are your thoughts in this comparison? i want the better sq hu with enogh features .. does 110 db s/n ratio of kenwood make a difference against pioneer 105 db in sq? is it enough 4 band eq on kenwood? or it fill that with other features?

how about Auto TA & Auto Eq & 3 way network in pioneer? that think kenwood doesn't have ..

This is actually a close call . The X-990 does have time alignment. Both of these decks have many tweeking ablilities. I wrestled with choosing between these two decks. I think you would be happy with either or These are both great decks. I would go to both Pioneer and Kenwood web sights and download the owners manual and see for yourself EXACTLY what both have to offer in detail.

Excelon's are known for their amazing sq. The clarity is awesome. Mine is beautiful. On the other hand, the p880 is probably right there as well. It is such a beautiful deck. Like I said before close call. You would be happy with either or.

the clarity is better than the p880prs? how much difference is there?

which one has more features?

They both have 5 V pre-outs. The 880 has independent 16-band eq, auto eq, manual and auto time alignment, and if you plan on running active it is probably the better choice. Plus, it looks much more classy IMO, especially with the all white lighting.

I love my 880

I've been running an x-889 for a little over a year. Just installed a p880 yesterday. After running auto eq, auto ta.. Bam! System sounds much cleaner than I could ever get the 889 to sound.

Without a doubt, the 880 is the clear winner. One thing that bugged me about the x889, is there was no way to EQ the sub out. The Eq only worked for front and rear channels. When running a sub, say your fronts are highpassed at 60, that is the lowest freqency you can adjust with the 4 band eq.

I suspect kenwood purposely designed these decks like that so you have to buy a kenwood mono-amp to be able to eq your sub via the remote amp control feature. Boo, hiss. Other than that, the kenwoods are nice units overall. IMO, the prs 880 sounds much nicer, and has better tweaking capabilities than the top of the line excelons do.
