overpowering CDT CL-61i

hey i have these CDT CL-61i's for my front stage and just got new elemental designs nine.2x amps and these amps push 200w rms per channel at 4 ohmsThe CDT's are only rated for 150w rms.

Can they be overpowered by this much?
It depends on how you use the system. If you play music before the onset of audible distortion, you have nothing to worry about.

I thought you always wanted to have an amp that pushed more power than the speakers handled. Isn't it good to have headroom?
In a perfect world, yes. This assumption is that folks playing music are able to hear (musical) peaks and transients reproduced without stress, with the volume being moderate, overall. Unfortunately, those posting on this forum don't usually fall into this mold.

FWIW, my speakers are rated at 150wpc and I'm driving them (actively) with ~420wpc.
