Our government....

Lol... so how many people bitching about the government actually have legitimate college degrees? Yea some things ****, but look at the issue on both sides. Usually after seeing both sides of the argument, you will see the government typically does what is best for the country.

I have legitimate college degrees. I own my own home and pay lots of taxes. I don't feel I have been bitching... but merely suggesting solutions to make a more perfect union.

i have a degree, well, will in about 2 months. Its not in anything political by any means, but i am a full time college student working part time. How can you say that the government is doing whats best for us when theyre building fucking schools in africa? Maybe they should help those in need in their OWN country first...

So having a college degree matters? Nahhhhh

I love how you can be 17 and go to jail or prison, but cant vote or buy cigs. Hmmm..
Are you suggesting we have no minimum age to vote, or that we give a free pass to adolescents under the age of 18 who murder? I think the cliche you meant was the old one about at 18 you can legally be made to defend, and die for, your country... but you cant legally drink a beer.

There's a lot of unfair standards in this world. Why do we send American soldiers to the middle east to die protecting our foreign oil interests, but we refuse to drill in ANWR just in case me might kill some caribou? When we focus too much on one issue unilaterally, like environmentalism, we tend to lose perspective of the bigger and more logical picture.

Aid to developing nations accounts for a minuscule percentage of the US budget. It improves the image and reputation of the United States and earns the US international strategic advantages. Most all policy decisions made in "the government" is done so by elected representatives that you (presumably) and 100 million other Americans vote for. If decisions are being made that you disagree with you CAN do something about it. You can vote, run for office, or organize with other Americans that feel the same way.

I think you make a logical case, but I disagree on one big issue. We are free to vote for the choices we are given. One of the main reasons politicians refuse to truly address election reform is all that money it takes to finance a candidacy for national, or even state level, office position means you are either a multi-millionaire willing to spend your own personal money on it, or it comes from being supported by the powers that be (democratic and republican parties). The average person 'cant get there from here'.

We are free within the confines that they allow us to be free.

& there it is........ a prison without bars!!

have a little look over HERE if you've got some time to kill ... Alex Jones makes some interesting points.... IMO

If we can term limit the POTUS, we should term limit those in Congress as well...that and significantly reduce their pay. That will go a LONG way towards eliminating the career politician and the lobbyist revolving door.
