Sounds kinda fishy remove the cone and see if the center pole is straight and look for metal shavings in the gap. If it passes inspection then buy it but the sub has to stay in the verticle position so if it's monted sideways you might have problems with it.

orion hccas are notorious for pole shift, also of people clipping the **** out of them on junk underpowered amps so alot of times the coils are discolored from the distortion. It was a good sub just after dealing with so many of I just lost my interest in em I had 11 of em.

hey you said remove the cone. what tools do i need? and is there a special way to do it?

allen key set and if it's mounted in a box you might need a drill and a screw driver. There's multiple bolts around the the foam on the ring that says hcca then on the bottom where the spiders lay the screws that hold the the spider to the basket. after all the allen key screws are pulled you remove the hcca rim and you be able to grab the foam and remove the cone.
