i order something new every week.. and i only had one bad seller.. but it was my 2nd acution
i wouldnt buy off ebay again! though i admit there are a lot of very legit sellers there but the few who are not gives the whole thing a bad name. recently i bought HU on ebay the thing came something like it was jacked from someone. and it said BRAND NEW in the add so i guess you got to go figure. and i think there is one who was selling an AMP and someone from Caraudio found out that guy ( the one selling the AMP - ROCKFORD I THINK ) had asked people here how to fix that messed up AMP. and he stated BRAND NEW TOO. so all in all i dont trust ebay. NO DISRESPECT ON LEGIT SELLERS!

also add check payment methods. I like to pay with credit card...and i ONLY pay with credit card...so if they dont ship, i can not pay the credit card company. works wonders...also...i have A credit
Well.. it's a matter of who is selling what... unfortunately there is no way to know if someone is a 'good' seller unless they have been selling for a while and have good reviews..
It's safer to use credit cards (through something like paypal.. I'd not give it to an idividual myself) as you can dispute a charge with the company and most will go after whomever.. and you normally have 30 days before the billing cycle pays the charge, so if someone says it's gonna be there in, say, 4 days and you don't get it in 10 or 15, call the card company and cancle the charge.. should be ok.. And, places like PayPal have some safty things (gaurenteed purchases, etc)..
Make sure the person you are buying from has good reviews/comments about them. Someone with a significant negative feedback may well be a shiseter..
I've had nothing but good purchases from eBay.. I've even sold EverQuest stuff there (way back in the day before Verant convinced eBay to not allow sales) and had no problems with getting payed..
It all just depends.. I'd suggest mostly stores on eBay (ikesound, etronics, etc etc) since they are probably the most trustworthy.. then people with significant numbers of 'good' feedbacks, and a VERY high ratio of good to bad (if they have to many bad, you might not like your experience).. If someone has no feedback, it's dangerous so make sure it's not something that's WAAY to good to be true (buy now things for very cheap are probably not a good idea).. but, remember, some auctions are really auctions and the price will start low (sometimes) or have a reserve..

Can I get in trouble for badmouthing an ebay seller by name? Does Anyone know if there's anything someone could do to hurt a power sellers sales. I got screwed over by someone on ebay recently. What pisses me off most though is this guy probably makes alot of money off of ebay sales, and if he screwed me he will most likely screw somebody else.

'in trouble' is relative.. as long as you are very VERY accurate in your portrayal you should be ok.. and there is nothing wrong with stating your opinion, just be VERY clear that it's your opinion.. Give the facts, try not to write it while angry.. if you are getting angry about it while you are writing it, take a break then finish it...
Most of us would appriciate knowing what you know.. just make sure you don't say anything that isn't correct or you 'could' be sued for slander.. not bloody likely though..
And, if he's a power seller, chances are your expierence was an isolated case.. Check the feedback on the seller, if it's almost all good.... I know IkeSound.com has some bad reviews, but some of that is people not being reasonable or not reading the page they were buying from...

OK, so the guy that I bought from was xbay2000. The product I purchased was a alpine 7894. The ad described the unit as brand new in the box, remote included. The guy has almost all good feedback. looked pretty safe. when I received the unit it was NOT brand new and it consisted of only the head unit itself and the plastic case for the faceplate. Nothing else. It was missing the remote, wiring harness, mounting sleeve, trimplate, and owners manual. So after a few emails back and forth I got basically the runaround from him, I have now ordered all the missing parts from Alpine for an additional 60 bucks. I don't even know if the unit works yet or not, with no wiring harness. So I just would like people in this forum to be aware of xbay2000 on ebay. He screwed me and doesn't care, to say the least.

Rangerman had ordered from him, as had over 700 other people, with lesss htan 20 negatives (most of which seemed to be simple misunderstandings) so I order an amp, send my 213 USD via money order (only viable option for me) and that was son the 10th of december... as of today, i have had ZERO contact with teh seller, not that I ahven't tried mind you, I have called almost 10 times, e-mailed at least that many times and filed fraud complaints with Ebay and Squaretrade... buddy just up and disappeared... my only hope fnow is to get 175 bucks from Squaretrade, becuase when I made the bid, he was a Seal memeber, insuring him for 200 USD (less $25 deductible which could take a month... (also the only reason I took the chance)..
