they are dual 4ohm voic coil

rms: 350watts

I wanna give them about 500 watts each...I need some help on an amp.

I was thinking maybe a Autotek 1400.1D or an Opti1400d

Say i get one of these amps...how can I wire it to give 500watts to each sub (at what ohm would i run them and how to wire to get that ohm(age)?

(sorry for newbie questions...this is my first system)

Thanks in advance

-Rocky

The rms is 350 and U want to push them over 150,,Go ahead and buy 2 more lol j/k But I would ask around about that b4 u throw that much at them

Upgrade to the 15's which can take 500 to each

wire the subs to a 1ohm final load at the amp. The diagram should be in the subwoofer section...
Thanks

I found a few diagrams on how to wire them to 1 ohm

another question...if i wire them down to 1ohm and the amp is putting out 1400 x1 ohm

so each sub gets 700 watts? if thats the case..i should get an amp with lesser wattage.

Yeah..you are right. I think i should stick to around 400 to 450? I know Loyd (i think) tested them at 800 watts each...but he did it only for testing purposes.

I PMed him...maybe he can help me out a lil

oh, the 12's are already on their way so cant change the order now ;/

thanks

Those 12's are great don't worry about it, and feel free to use an amp that has 150w more than they can take but set your gains correctly. If you don't use a DMM and follow the tutorial you will have a problem and I'd hate to see you do something stupid to such nice drivers. I for one prefer amps that are rated higher than the drivers I am supplying power to.

Thanks for the reply

Yeah...I dont want to do anything stupid so i'll make sure that i read the "how to set ur gains" a few times to get it right.

If the amp is rated 1400 x1 ohm...wont the speakers get 700 watts each at 1 ohm? how can i give them 500 each using one of these amps?

or should i get an amp that does 1000x1 ohm rms?

thanks

If you do get an amp that does 1400x1, it will leave room for upgrading later, so id say do that. And when setting your gains, instead of setting them at 1400 watts( 1400 x 1= 1400, sqrt 1400= 37.4 volts), set it to about 900-1000( 1000 x 1= 1000, sqrt 1000= 31.6 volts) If you see the drivers are being stressed (over excursion or bottoming out etc.) then turn it down a bit.

They should be fine with 500w each. I was running 3 10"s ported with a power acoustik 3000 wired to 2.67ohm. They were getting about 500w each, and took it with no problems. They sound great, and get loud while doing it. Again install & gain setting is key to it all without blowing them. Good luck, and keep us updated.
