Opions on how to tighten up my bass...

I currently have a downfiring sealed box with 3 mtx 5500;s powered by a 1605d brutus.I have a vent in the rear deck to get the bass into the car,an let me tell you its beyond my expectation of loud.Only issue I am having is tighting the bass up,on some songs it just sounds way to loose or sloppy.Anyone have an idea on maybe the right setting of this amp,or other without tearing apart the box an reinstalling everything?

what size volume per sub?

how many watts per sub?

put them subs maybe in the right box? build a new one.

or get 10's. unless they are 10's...

It COULD be the recordings, since you mention 'on some songs' not ALL songs.

put them subs maybe in the right box? build a new one.
or get 10's. unless they are 10's...

Cone diameter does not directly affect transient response. 10's will not always be 'tighter' just because they're 10's.

definately get better subs...5500's are trash unless they're in a riced out civic half orange half yellow with a huge aluminum wing parked outside of a housing project in some poor city outside detroit...

Well,today we re-adjusted my setttings an added a second port an the system is sounding right where I wanted it.I am not sure why so many people talk trash on these subs,so far my experience has been nothing short of great.

What do you meen you added another port? You changed the box's tunning?

sorry,it should read vent.I have a downfire sealed box an we did a vent in the rear deck which proved to be less then effective.So today we did some trimming behind the back seat an created another vent behind where the rear arm rest flips down an it brought new life to the set up 100%!

you could always try front firing subs as well. may get it even better.
