i'm just double checking, this is my first "high end" sub so i don't want to screw anything up with the wiring

Hook a battery up to the coils and pay attention to the direction of excursion. Now flip the battery so that each end is on a different end of the coil than previoiusly. Now pay attention to the direction of excusion.
