If you want some GOOD oldies, find anything by...

- The Lovelites (Patti & The Lovelites)

- - - most famous for "How Can I Tell My Mom and Dad", the story about a teenage pregnancy where the guy leaves after she revealed to him she was pregnant. A radical song for that time period...the "type of stuff you just don't sing about" back in those days.

- The Originals

- - - most famous for "Baby I'm for Real"

- The Persuaders

- - - most famous for "Thin Line Between Love and Hate"

- Smokey Robinson & The Miracles

- - - Lot of famous ones including "Ooh Baby", "Tears of a Clown", "Shop Around", and "You Really Got a Hold On Me"

- late 60s Temptations (pre-Psychadelic Shack)

- - - Cuts like "Hey Girl (I Like Your Style)", "Just My Imagination (Runnin' Away With Me)", "Return Your Love to Me", "I Could Never Love Another", "I Wish it Would Rain", and "Since I Lost My Baby".

Also, check out some of The Impressions (Jerry Butler singing lead but most famous with Curtis Mayfield singing lead).

Oh yea, how could I forget the Dramatics but that's getting more into the 70s. Their "In the Rain" was their most notable song.

Check out some of the Delfonics also, their most notable being "La La Means I Love You".

****, and how could I forget the Dells!!! If you want some true Oldies Soul/Dusties, they are IT. Most famous, "Stay in My Corner". These guys are my definition of Oldies. Make sure you find their early stuff (late 50s maybe but definitely 60s), cause they are one of those groups who kinda change with the musical genre shifts that happen from decade to decade. For example, they've got "modernized" MIDI/808 songs. But definitely their old stuff is true Dusties.

^^^NIIICE i want some of that old stuff.

my dad grew up with a bunch of black people in daily city so hes into all the old soul/r&b stuff.

and dont worry people, classic rock has a special place in my heart too, who can NOT like Journey, Foriegner, Boston, ACDC, etc.??
