Where oh where have the OKIE shows been?
I am in the process of getting back into car audio after an 8 year absense. Some of you old pharts may remember me, I competed in the IASCA Pro 151-300 with a Ford Taurus. It had USD waveguides, XTR6mb's, Canton rear fill, and XTR10's. Alpine provided the source and amplification and Audio Control handled the equalization (EQTs).
Now I am a little bit more successful in my desire for high end sound. I will be purchasing Focal, Audison, Eclipse and Orion for my next system. I plan on competing in Sound Q but I am a bit confused.
Why is it that most of the cars I have seen in competitions have elaborate systems with 'glass boxes and gel coat? Is this needed? I believe that good sound must be heard, not looked at. My system will be clean, from install to sound to safety. But it will not have video, fiberglass, and gel coat. I would be suprised if there is any motorization also.
Am I just an old phart in my ideals about sound quality? Please help me figure this out. BTW...I am in Oklahoma City. Plan on doing business with Audio Midwest. Thanks. Oh and I was manager of Traffic Jams back in the mid '90s.
