oil overfill

i was refilling the oil pan...drove it for a few minutes..then checked the dipstick..(it was completely dry..no kidding..) then refilled again and again..till i saw it up to full mark..after a few minutes..tried again for safety...and the dipstick had it well above the full mark...so i checked the oil container..and it had like 3 litres off it!!?!?!!?!?! my engines only 1.6 ....why wasn't the dipstick showing any oil on it before?

is that very risky? is there any other ways of taking the excess oil out without unscrewing the drain plug? or is that the only way?

try checking your level a few minutes after your car was running. also, make sure it's on a flat surface. a driveway incline can give you altered levels. if it's still high, do as stated above and drain a little. from what i know, too much oil can cause it to form bubbles which is not good.

I don't get why you were having this problem...

99% of car engines out there either take 5 or 6 quarts of oil. There's really no need to guess here //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Check your owner's manual if you're not sure.

What actually happens is the oil will start getting beat like when you mix eggs, it will get full of air bubbles, and your oil pump will try ******* the air through sometimes, and when it gets air, bad things tend to occur.
