Ohms

I have and keep finding different answers. Some say something about how it helps heat. Others say it helps clarity ( which makes no sense to me what so ever). O well

More power at lower resistances, generally.
I know what ohms ARE. I just don know the advantages of having a higher resistance. To me it just seems like you have to spend more money to get a bigger amp to operate at a high resistance.

There isn't really an advantage to higher resistance. It just allows more flexibility for wiring options when using more than one sub.

wiring at a higher ohm load will(given same power output and correctly set gains)...

1) lower distortion(although probably not audible)

2) let the amp work more efficiently

3) because of #2, will draw less amperage from your alt/batt

4) also because of #2, will waste less energy, and thus the amp will stay cooler.

But we all know that getting something that does 1kw+ at 8 ohms is pretty hard to find, and expensive...just go with a 2ohm or 1ohm load if you need serious power.
