Now, they're taking it too far, I think! This class was clearly set up as a philosophy class and not a science class, offering students the opportunity to learn about and debate another perspective. Whether I agree with the contents and specifics of that teaching or not, I think educating students from multiple angles is right. Teaching ID in a science class is not appropriate, I agree. These people are clearly trying to remove any thought of God from any and all parts of the public education system. And that, I feel strongly, is wrong.
""The course was designed to advance religious theories on the origins of life, including creationism and its offshoot, 'intelligent design,"' the lawsuit said. "Because the teacher has no scientific training, students are not provided with any critical analysis of this presentation.""
That statement is just retarded. Of course students are provided critical analysis, on a large scope, in their SCIENCE class.
"Superintendent John Wight, who did not immediately return a phone call for comment, said last week that the class, "Philosophy of Design," was not being taught as science and was an opportunity for students to debate the controversial issue."
Yep
