i'm in some b.s. criminal justice class to fill a liberal arts requirement, and we get a lot of guest speakers.
tonight it was someone from the department of corrections whom had moved up from being a guard (over the last 30+ years).
his whole presentation was video clips and pictures!
he started with about 30 minutes of various prison fight clips, which he showed from every angle possible.
then he went online and accessed a private (law enforcement only) criminal database to show us how he could look people up just based on their description.
then some graphic (but blocked out) pictures of *****, middle aged, ugly woman (he even mentioned that she probably didn't have a lot of boyfriends //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif ).
then some car chases (most of them from youtube or other sites).
and finally some very graphic images of deceased individuals (the folder on his computer was called 'dead bodies')
one was a guy who was shot, another was someone who was runover by a semi truck (pics with the truck still on him, and then with it removed).
and finally pics from ogrish of a decapitated gang member! i think i saw a few girls that just about puked!
and some of these clips/vids had nothing to do with any of the prisons he worked with, just stuff he got in his e-mail. he was actually laughing about the decapitated guy.
all of this on a 40 foot wide projector screen! and for each dead body he had several pics, and he'd leave them sitting up there for a couple minutes while he talked!
plus he swore constantly and gave absolutely no warning when he was going to show a graphic image!
he even mentioned that he started because he liked to rough people up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif (he was a bit older, but probably about 6'5" 250lbs)
at the end my teacher (younger woman) asked him to mention some 'nice' and 'good' things about his job //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
overall, it was fairly entertaining, somewhat offensive, and made me feel a bit uncomfortable.
he also made me realize that i never want to be a prison guard (he said there are several fights per day at a prison!)
