I read lots of posts on the K series and A series from Ed audio, but my question is what about the O's? I really want to get the most bang for my buck and I think the K's are a tad under what I was expecting to pay but the A's seem like a tad too far out of my budget. I am thinking of going with 2 10's and was curious if anyone has any comments on the O series? Are they worth the extra money vs. the K's or should I maybe just get 1 12 A?

thanks,

~j

the O's are designed as a great SQ driver. They will sound better than the K in a slightly larger box. Stay sealed with them they will handle more power than teh K but less thant eh A. Again, designed to sound great, and they get loud too.

if i had the o's..i'd do an infinite baffle install. might lose SPL, but hey..this is a SQ driver.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

This may sound stupid but was is a infinite baffle install.

not stupid at all! not many know what an IB setup is. an IB setup is where you mount the driver on a baffle (ie. deck, back seat, etc.) to completely seal off the front and rear sound waves. the sub will use the trunk as it's box. anything you put in the trunk will take up space so the sub may sound a bit differently (doesn't that sound familiar with an enclosed box?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif )

though you lack SPL (mainly because a sub will reach excursion WAY faster than in a ported or sealed box), you gain lower frequencies. kinda like more "oomph" to it. sounds beautiful with and IDMAX i must add:D . the most power you'll need for any IB install is 350 watts to the sub.

I was gonna do IB, but woe to me, I bought a hatchback car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif :(

I wish I could IB, but sealed is coming in my future.

To sum it up, IB is basically a MASSIVE sealed box. Seal your trunk, mount it on your deck/seats.

oh and BTW, Ben Milne (CEO of eD) runs an O in his car and loves it. Ive seen it compared to w6v2's but who knows, nobody but Ben has heard them.

Come on....SHIP EM!!!

Hey, thanks for all the replies. I think I have an understanding now of what I am looking at with each series now. It sounds like the O's would be for me. I'm all about the SQ and getting super load doesn't really interest me. All I have really used in the last 2 years is 1 12w3 and I have been very content with it. It has worn down a good deal and its just time to move on and do some upgrading. Would you guys/gals rather a single 12 or 2 10's, O series. Also (sorry I'm all about questions tonight) I am a very big U.S. amps lover. I have a usa-150 right now running my JL and was curious if it was time to upgrade that to. I've seen some nice deals on Ed's website. Thanks again for all the replies!

you will want a bit mroe power than the rated 450 that the US Amps will deliver. But, if you don't want to get SUPER loud, then you can stick with it... My recommendation, get the O (single 12 with that kind of power) and stick with your amp. If you desire for more, get a bigger amp and/or another O...

So If I wanted to run another U.S. amp what would run well with 2 10's? Also, why were you sick of 2 10's? Did you want more bass? I am by far more interested in quality then boom. The low end needs to be there but my components are my main interest. I am planning on running Focal's or Koda's for my components....just trying to find that solid bang for the lows. Thanks again.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but what is the difference between this and a free air setup, or are they the same?
