to bad this kid passed away. he would of been a great player for the rangers. if u dont know him he was draft pick by the rangers and he passed away they are saying a heart attack took his life during a game. he was 19

New York Rangers prospect Alexei Cherepanov died during a game in his native Russia on Monday night. He was 19.

He plays with Jagr, and I'm hearing that they collided and he went to the bench. Had a heart attack and died.

Sucks to hear, supposedly he was a good kid and he was going to be an amazing NHL'er. RIP.

From what it sounds like, if the Russian league had the proper emergency care at hand, he might still be with us.

Took 15-20 minutes for the Ambulance to arrive, and I;m hearing that there were faulty defibrillators there as well.

no shit. marilyn manson said it best. the death of one is a tragedy, but the death of millions is just a statistic? tragedy is 9-11, tragedy is a mass bombing. this stuff happens everyday and although its a sad thing of course, but if he wasnt a prospect of an athletic organization he wouldnt be on yahoo news.

The details aren't exactly clear right now. From what I've read, he took a hard elbow right to the chest from Jagr- they are on the same team and collided into each other. He went to the bench and died on the bench.
