Chances are it isn't a **** 6banger unless it has been built up a bit. The hood scoop also is another clue that it is an 8 cylinder model. Additionally you can easily tell it isn't the LT1 4th gen by the front end.

they aren't different generations, it's all 4th gen.

as far as i know, the car didn't change much besides the engine and the front clip

Wrong. The first look is from 93-97 model years. the second was 98-02 model years and they are still the same gen(4th gen) The introduction of changing to the LS1 power plant is what prompted GM to freshen up the look mid-gen. They did this on ***** ams as well.

well, i dont know too much about them, but basically, the LS1s are a whole ton more advanced than the LT1s

LTX = 2nd gen. Chevy small block

LSX = 3rd gen. Chevy small block

they're both 350ci/5.7L engines

one main difference that i know about is that the LT1s have reverse flow cooling while the LS1s dont

and the LT1s have an optispark distributor while the LS1s have individual coil packs

the LS1s also obviously have much better heads/valve train

im sure there are many other differences too, but that's just off the top of my head

wow what a badass vid... haha it made me smile cause just today i was in a 98 with the LS1 and it was a real shitty day today but my dude still got to show off a little bit for me and those things are a lot more badass than i used to give them credit for. this vid is kinda a case in point
