Not happy with ported CVX setup, should I go sealed?

I have a 12" CVX in a ported 2 cubic foot box, tuned at 34hz. In my opinion it sounds horrible. It doesn't blend very well at all with my music. I was wondering if I went with a sealed box will there be any difference?

if you mean by blend that its too loud, yes.

or upgrade your frontstage.

I have a set of Rainbow Germaniums for My frontstage, and the sub is only recieving 400 watts, so its not overpowering my speakers. It just seems like the bass notes are too boomy, and have no sound quality to it

sealed will improve quick response due to better cone control. im not sure what you mean by boomy.

probably saying its peaky on the lower (40ish hz) notes. makes songs sound unbalanced if you're getting way more volume out of deep notes than higher notes.

sealed with flatten out the peaks quite a bit, although you can do almost as good of a job with a well designed ported box. what sort of music do you generally listen to?

I listen to a bit of everything, Rock, Rap, alternative. All the rock musics sounds fine, and so do most of alternative. But the rap just has very low quality bass to it. Would applying sound dampening make much of a difference to the sound quality?

I have a sealed CVX in a 1.5 enclosure. It sounds awesome on rap, but so so on rock and alternative. Seems like I lose a lot of certain freq. I am not sure, but all you can do is just try it. Will be cheaper to build or have someone build you a sealed enclosure, so I guess try that route.

I was thinking of trying ported, but I need the room and thinking of getting an SI Mag.
