i have an hk4000d , 2 batts , big 3 117 amp alt and i still cant power the hk4000d why ? what else do i need to do. i have a fi btl wired to 2 ohms . big 3 is dont in 2ga. the batts are wired + to + , - to - . my light blink like a mother. i have soild core 1/0 wire to the amp .

solid core wire o0, ew. no flex ftl.

Otherwise, power wire should be 1/0 for that amp, maybe 2 runs of 1/0 /shrug

And if your lights are dimmin, get bigger big 3, also check grounds, on the lights and negatives to the frame, block, battery, firewall....

just found the specs on that amp, your alt is nowhere near powerful enough to run that amp. I had a 105amp alt on about 1600 watts and when I replaced it, it was burned to hell inside. As long as your batts are good, they aren't the problem. Get a HO alt and you'll be fine. How long have you been running that setup? I'm surprised your alt hasn't given out on you already, mine was ready to :p

I have ran mine off a stock alt with 2 batteries and it ran just fine nothing below 12.1v(not saying this is ideal but can be done without the problems you are facing).Check the voltage on your power wire and then check your remote wire.I bet it is some wher about a half a volt differance from your power wire. This along with the power wire only being able to supply a few amps of current make the amp think there is low voltage.Try wiring a jumper directly from the power wire to the remote(removing the deck supplied power wire)and then play it and see if it still cuts out.

same amp?

what was your stock alt?

I find that hard to believe, the second battery helps but it can also cover up the problem. Stock alts aren't that powerful and are not meant to drive heavy systems so while the batteries may have been able to supply the juice for your system your probably killing your alt. Believe me, it didn't really seem like my system was putting pressure on my alt until I took it apart and saw how black and burned up the inside was :p

Look at my avatar I have 2.I did say that it wasn't ideal. But the problem he is having isn't in the alt but is a wiring issue.I had the same problem was told how to fix it and it hasn't been a problem since. Now I have an Iraggi 300 with a bank of 4 batteries suppling power.

I have a RF T2000 pushing a 18" soloX. My alt is 105 amps and I did not do the big three. I was scared at first that I would drain my batt at first, but I had no time for the big 3 and just went with it. I pound that thing like crazy and I still get about 12 to 13.8 volts on my cap. Even the guys at the installation shop was surprised at I wold be able to handle that much using stock batt and alt. What they tols me was that because my car is a turbo, this alt is somewhat different from others and that the big three will help, but will not help significantly. Just my experience.
