noobie installing alpine setup.

Thru the help of this forum I finally made a decision to replace the factory setup in my 04 Grand Marquis.

I'm going with an Alpine ida-x305 and an alpine kce-400bt. I also bought a wireing harness for my Grand Marquis as well as the mounting kit. Before I jump into removing the existing unit, I started to put the pieces together and came up with a few questions.

the 4th picture here shows the wires coming out of the hu. Those colored wires don't match the colored wires on the wire harness module.

Here is the wiring chart off of the hu:

1 red switched power/ignition lead

2 pink/black audio interrupt in lead

3 orange illumination

4 gray front sp r +

5 gray/black front sp r -

6 white front sp l +

7 white/black front sp l -

8 black ground lead

9 blue power antennna lead

10 blue/white remote turn on lead

11

12 Violet rear sp r +

13 violet/black rear sp r -

14 green rear sp l +

15 green/black rear sp l -

16 yellow battery lead

How do I correlate these to the module shown in the first photo? Also, do I need to note the positive and negative speaker lines to specific positive and negatives on the speakers themselves? I know, silly question, but this is my first time doing this and I don't want to muck it up.

Secondly, where should I mount the bluetooth component. It has rather long leads on the wiring, I just want to know if there is an advantage to having it underneath the dash, for instance.

Another follow up question on that. The HU has a usb specific port and cable. I suppose that can be used for usb sticks and such. Both the HU and the BT unit have high speed iPod/iPhone connectors. Since I intend to use the bluetooth for the phone and audio, is there any reason to purchase and use that cable? Also, does anyone have experience on how this hu handles multiple iPhones?

I'm going to attempt to remove the original HU tomorrow. Wish me luck!

And again, thanks to the help from those of you on this forum. For noobies, its a daunting task to figure out what you want and what you really need. Thanks to all for your patience and assistance.
