nightshade 18" vs APX 18"

Looking around on here and CACO and was wondering what you think would be louder on on 4Kw. I have 10ft^3 gross to work with and am looking for SPL only...

they are the same price (APX needs a recone but after buying the motor/basket and the recone it is the same as the nightshade)

if it was an ap/spl I'd probably say that, can it be reconed to a ap/spl instead of an apx

asked george about it and apparently I can recone the motor/basket to an APXX18 if I want to... reading on their website and I can't tell what the difference between the APX and APXX is...

apx has a 3" coil, the apxx has a 2 1/2" coil. that's the biggest diff I see

No sir... both use a 3" 8-layer flatwind aluminum coil...

APXX has a 3" coil, can take more power obviously.

Found it... the only difference is that the APXX has a triple layer foam surround...

oops, misread on the website. saw 2 1/2 inches and it was excursion not coil size.

can't see much diff between the 2 except the APX says it has a high sensitivity

all that matters is that the sub is stout, I love my ap/spl. gets LOUD. not a lowend beast, but gets really loud
