new video card

its a considerable upgrade, go for it. I just bought a 7800GT awaiting delivery. if you had a 6800GT I would say dont bother, but a 6600GT to a 7600GT is a noticeable difference.

Speaking of connecting your pc (or a notebook in my case) to a computer, would their be any loss of signal if I were to connect the notebook (via VGA) to a HDTV (its a 60" Sony SXRD) with component cables using a VGA to Component cable?

Also, what are the maximum outputs a VGA cable can carry, 1080i?

Unfortunately, Sony made the SXRD and limited its VGA/PC Input resolution resolution to I think 720p.

Not only that, but it doesn't display VGA in full screen. Other users, from what I have read also seem to dislike its the quality displayed via its VGA input.

However if component can carry 1080i I think I can go with that. That in fact is the SXRD's native resolution.

7600GT is about 50% faster than a 6600GT at reference clocks ... Of course, most 7600GTs are pre-overclocked, so most are about 60% faster ...
6600GT (Reference)

500 MHz x 8 Pipelines = 4 GPixels/s

1000 MHz x 128-bit = 16 GB/s

7600GT (Reference)

560 MHz x 12 pipelines = 6.72 GPixels/s (68% Higher Fill Rate)

1400 MHz x 128-bit = 22.4 GB/s (40% More Memory Bandwidth)

7600GT (XXX Edition)

590 MHz x 12 pipelines = 7.08 GPixels/s (77% Higher Fill Rate)

1600 MHz x 128-bit = 25.6 GB/s (60% More Memory Bandwidth)

The HDTV output means it can output Composite, S-Video, or Component video to a TV. Component video can output up to 1080i or 720p. Keep in mind that unless you have an LCD TV, you're not going to get good image quality with anything but movies and games from a computer.
Thanks a ton Jmac. I will most probably look for the XXX edition then, unless it is close to the 7800GT. Also I have a panasonic DLP HDTV, i dont understand why it wouldnt be clear? It has a 1080i out.
