Well, I broke down and bought myself an AR15. Its used, but in great condition. VERY few rounds down the tube, infact...I would venture to guess that I have likely put more rounds through it in the last week than the original owner ever did.

Armalite 15A4C w/ 16" HBAR.

I also went to the gun shop and picked up a PMAG-30. I have another PMAG-30 w/ window and a 10rnd steel mag (for bench shooting) ordered.

Pretty much at bare-bones AR, but it gets the job done. I mounted a cheap 2.5-10x42mm scope on it this past weekend and took to the range. (The 'range' = field behind my brothers house....~350yrs available)

I started out w/ factory reload HPR 55gr FMJ to get on paper w/ the scope. After a little tweeking, I got it on zero at 104yrds (I walked the target out and set it up, when I got back to the bench and shot it w/ a range finder it was 104yds, and damit if I'm gonna walk back out there and bring it in 4yrds).

I'm really liking this HPR ammo...its once-fired brass, but nice quality. I caught all my HPR brass and it was actually Lake-City w/ NATO marking and non-crimped primers. I was able to clean and reload every HPR brass w/ no trouble at all!!!!

This is my group @ 104yrds w/ the HPR 55gr ammo. Not bad at all, given I had a gusting 10-15mph wind.

BUT, then I took my brass and hand-loaded a few rounds w/ Winchester 55gr boat tail FMJ and 21.5gr IMR4198.

This is my hand-loaded 7 round group @ 104yds.

I set up red solo cups full of water at 270-275yrds (range finder). Popped 3 w/ 4 shots w/ a ~10mph cross wind.

My red-cup setup @ ~270yrds. I was shooting off bags from a shooting table next to the trailor home in the background.

All in all, this little Armalite AR15 is SICK. Kills my old Ruger Mini-14 in every way.

But, damit...I HATE the 2-stage trigger. I'm to used to my Rem700 triggers...lol.

Planning on going to a single stage trigger in this gun ASAP!

Ole' Rocky and Ace

Fired ~50rnds in one setting, and my dogs didn't give a ****....lol

Sweet looking gun!
Awesome looking dogs also, love the chocolate labs
The chocolate lab is Ace. He got run over when he was young (~8months). He is my brother's dog. He took him to the vet and had pins put in his hips, but the surgery didn't take. His back left leg is lame, you can see in the pic that his front half is much more buff than his rear. He gets around fine on 3 legs and is still a happy dog. This last season, he found his first 3 deer and went stone crazy following blood-trails...lol.

When he found the first one, he ran off out of sight following the blood trail. He barked, howled, growled, and went nuts before my dad got to the deer. When my dad got to the deer, Ace was humping it. LMAO. Ace would hump the deer, then try to chew on the exit wound/blood.

They cleaned that deer and gave Ace the kidneys and legs. After that, he became a deer tracking fool...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

good to see he is happy it is tough to see when a dog is in pain.

Unfortunately I know all to well about labs getting hit by cars, was about to load up to go out of town for the weekend when I heard the hit and Blaze(my choco) died a couple minutes after. He was only ~8 months. Glad your choco is still doing well and was able to recover. They're such loyal dogs. Lmao @ the humping of the deer.

Damnit! I came in here with high hopes of new a new 9 incher or beads and am now leaving in disappointment!
I'm guessing your talking turkey.

If so....

Well...sadly, I have never killed a turkey. I live in Louisiana, but mainly hunt deer in Mississippi. We have a club just north of Natchez, Miss, and I have killed ALOT of nice deer there. It is not unusual to see see a 30+ herd of turkeys roosting in one tree on our club in deer season. I can't even count the times I have walked under a tree w/ roosting turkeys in the limbs over the years.

I have just never been a turkey hunter. I'm more of a fisherman than a hunter to tell the truth. I do like to deer hunt, but the early season squirrel hunt and rut is my favorite time. To tell the truth, I would rather kill walk though the woods and kill a limit of squirrels than drop a 170lbs doe.

When I deer hunt, I like hunting climbers. That way I can easily change my position from hunt-to-hunt.

Deer season is over so I will have to wait till next year.

But, this year...I have a slate, box, diaphragm, and my old REM11-87 12ga laying in wait for a gobbler this spring.

Maybe I will get lucky.
