The Alpine x001...last years model, x100, x200 and x300 all have red displays. The x001 and x100 allow for changing between red and blue lighting. The x300 seems to be red display only. The x300 has only "one" pre-out while the others have more. The x001 and x100 provide for wallpapers and custom wallpapers while the x200 and x300 use a line display. The x100 costs $400 retail and the '07 x001 retails for $269 at Crutchfield at the moment. None of them use cd's so you are limited to either mp3, ipod or usb drives. Personally I use an 8gb usb drive that holds all my songs. And I have a 160gb WD Passport hard drive that holds all my music and audio, old time radio, files at roughly 45gb...much much easier than sorting through cd's. Both show album art but only with the use of an ipod...runs the ipod at full speed but no album art using a usb drive...that sucks lol. I like the x001 quite a bit. I have been a loyal fan of Alpine for close to 30 years now and have never been let down. Keep us posted on what you do and enjoy.
