my yamaha HTR-5660 is very good was $500 and got it for $300 brand new cause it was last years model from best buy 85W/channel but you can change something to get it to do 105/channel i think.

I am looking for a new reciever now too. I am planning on building a few custom speakers for my room. QWTP's for the fronts, I don't know about the rears. Probably a decent set of dayton drivers in MTMM config. And looking at using a horn for the sub, also. I don't know about center channels - really undecided about those. But for the receiver, I am looking for something that can take optical inputs. I don't necessarily need an AVR, as I just use it for music and movies (don't need the video switching, all goes straight to the TV). Any recomendations? I figure any Denon would do but I don't want to fork over $500 just for a good box.

my kenwood is a good 2 models back, and it has optical inputs (using dayton FO IC from pioneer changer)
