Where are you in MD? middle river is out there in the county, essex. Is that where you are? Or is that just the company you are being subcontracted to?

I am in Baltimore co./ Curtis bay, so middle river is right over the Key Bridge from me. Probably a 25 min drive. Thats the company I am going to be subcontracted to, the main company I am going to be working for is CFM engineering. They are based out of Glen Burnie by BWI airport.

I wouldn't let the current job market determine what concentration of engineering you follow. From the sounds of it, you're either pre-college or a 1st year student. The job market can change significantly in 5 years. Nevertheless, I find it hard to believe your mechanical friend is having a hard time finding a job. The way fuel prices are these days, mechanical engineers should be in high demand.
