New Here...Design Me a System

Hey guys, I just signed up here. Nice forum.

I am a complete n00b at car audio, but I am looking to put my first system in my 2007 Dodge Nitro with the stock 6 speaker system.

I have been on other forums, talked to friends, and I am in over my head.

What I am looking for is for someone who knows what they are doing to design me a system within my budget of under $600, not including wiring (my friend will install for $100 incl wiring). The $600 does not include installation.

So what I am looking for is this:

-Head Unit capable of playing a single CD and an Aux input.

-Sub system (either 2 10" or one 12", what do you think?)

-Sub box for the sub(s)

-4 door 6.5" door speakers that will fit in my nitro.

-an Amp to power it all. (mono? 2-channel? no idea!!)

Hopefully someone out there will be able to help me out...with your recomendations I would also appreciate links to where I can buy this stuff at.

On a side note, my friend suggested this set up, and got blasted for it on another forum. Is this set up really that bad???

You need more monies. Just buy a decent set of components/amp/deck, and then save up for the sub later. If you get those infinitys you won't be impressed.

There has got to be some sort of decent set up I can get for $600. I was looking at onlinecarstereo.com and the above listed items would set me back around $550.

That brings up another point, I have heard good and bad things about onlinecarstereo.com....thoughts?

And I would be willing to sacrifice for cheaper components.

Now, you would need an amp for these guys. You can probably get a used nine.2x or something like that off here for around $130.00 or so.

If you get all this stuff you will have a really nice sounding stereo being born. You will need things like sound deadener for the doors, and wires/install gear though.... Trust me, you don't want to buy junk the first time around. Plus, if you are unhappy with any of this stuff you can sell it on here for easily ~what you paid.

Subs are probably the least important thing to be honest. If you just want to be loud and annoy people you're probably going to have to wait for someone else to come in and tell you what to get.

2 used Type Rs: 120ish

Used Sundown or AQ 1500/1200: 225-250ish

2 sets of PG RSD 6.5s components: 140

Used ported box 3cu @ 35hz: 100 shipped

Used Powerbass 600asa for 6.5s: 60

Yes, it really is that bad. If I were you, I'd spend what you have now on a good 4 channel amp, look into clarion, sundown, audioque., then save up til you have enough to buy some good quality speakers, a set of components and a set of coaxials for rear fill(brands such as CDT, Focal, Rainbow, Alpine only type X). Then save up for a good sub, too many good brands to list right now, then a good amp for the sub.

Just my $0.02 though, do what feels right. But please, for the love of God, don't buy type S's if you have space for better.

That deck I posted is an insane deal bro. I would seriously look into it. Ok, maybe not insane, but it's a top of the line deck from like 2 years ago.
