since im not going the stock route i can venture off into custom ideas. is there anybody here who has done a classic bug? it would help alot.

I want the actual music to sound decent, however i would like to be able to make the bass pretty loud. I dont care who system hits harder or whatever, its strictly for me, myself, and I.

I want a head unit that has a rear USB, installed in my glove box. (out of sight out of mind)

i would like 2 speakers in the footwell in kick panels. two speakers and probably two 10" subs behind the rear seat. Not sure if i can get away with one amp but i plan on putting the amp below the drivers seat.

I will be mainly using my iphone in the ashtray doc as the source of music however i want the head unit in case i want to listen to fm. what should i do? i am still learning the concept of audio systems. im sure its a lot more simple than i imagine.

im looking to spend around $400 and under, however there a possibility i already have 2 10" pioneer subs in a trade, so we can mark that off the list. i dont mind buying used parts if the condition is good.

You are going to want to get a half way descent head unit, many of them now have ipod / iphone direct usb control built into them now which is what you are going to want... I would do a little bit at a time & do it right so you don't have to go back & re-do anything over again... Start with a descent Head unit... Then you can look into the other things such as what kind of space you are working with as far as subs are concerned, as this will be one of your most important factors when deciding on subs as I know classic bugs have very limited space back there to work with... I'd go with a nice set of 10" subs that will perform well in a small sealed enclosure... Figure out what kind of power you will be needing and at what impedance load (ohm) and then you may want to look into a 5 channel amp so you can run all of your interior speakers and subs from one amplifier depending on footprint size of the amp and available mounting space... If not then just get 2 separate amps and maybe 1 under each seat then? Get your amp wiring and big 3 done, a nice set of components up front, coax's in the rear and you should be good 2 go...

To determine what amp would be good for you, list the specs/model no of those pioneers you getting if you are dead set on getting those. Also how loud do you want your bass? 1: just enough bass filling up the cabin for nice sound quality or 2: you want it pounding hard enough to feel it in your chest and tickle your eardrums or 3: you want to rattle and flex your car apart? With the budget, you have, it might not be enough because you have to factor in installation parts also, but first things first, do the head unit, there's some decent pioneer headunits with a lot of the options you want that can be had under 210$ shipped, unless you want touchscreen...

the model is TS-W250R and im also getting a jensen mp1311 HU. however i dont like the head unit much and i would like to get better one with rear usb.

my buddy has a sony mex-bt3000p hu with kicker ds65.2 up front and ds68 in back with no sub or amp. i like the sound of the music in his truck. i think this would be more than enough for my bug. plus they are pretty inexpensive. anybody have suggestions? maybe this setup *****, hahah let me know thank you.

just because this sounds god in his truck ,doesn't mean it will in the bug.you need an 8" sub or 2 some 6.5 components ,deadener , amp kit for 2 amps and a mono block and 2 or 4 channel amp ,do yourself a favor and get a custom box for the subs ported.but with a deck you'll be over $400 easy .so i would start with the deck and a decent set of components, and maybe some deadener for the doors .then the subs ,box, amp ,and amp kit .then last the amp for the components

@mylows10 the whole inside will be deadened before hand. i think ill be using the 10" pioneers in a custom box. keep in mind i have very little experience with audio. so whats an amp kit? is the deck the HU? should i use different amps for the sub than the components?

the amp kit is the wires that hook the amp to the car and deck ,and the hu is the head unit .i use separate amps for the speakers and subs, reason being ,is if one amp blows ,the other still works ,so you still have sound .where in cal are you ?

so whats the deck? and alright so the kit is the wiring. the system ill be installing isnt going to be for show, or anything, strictly for my entertainment. so im not going to buy an extra amp "in case" the other blows. ill simply go buy another one if this does happen. im in riverside

no 1 amp is for the subs and the other for the speakers ,the deck is the head unit

oh alright sorry. so looks like ill be getting the two 10" pioneer subs, with a pioneer super tuner 3. (for now) ill upgrade later when i decide to go all in. based off of this deck and subs, what am i gonna need? amp kit? amp? components?
