New fiberglass work completed

I took the factory console and laid some posterboard and make a template how I wanted the shape of the extension to look.

Then I made the housing for the TV and fastened it to the side of the console. Stretched some fleece across it and stapled it to the frame and down onto the TV housing. Added resin to that and added mat to the backside for a liitle extra strength. Laid some mat along the sides of the factory and extension to bring it together. Sanded all that down and also the texture of the factory console got sanded off. Used filler primer to help with the texture and also primed the extension. Sanded it all smooth and painted it. Wet sand the orange peel looking stuff and buff out.

Thats the just of it. Of course the sanding is time consuming.

Attempt to post some pics of what I just described.

ooooh so it is the actual center console with an addition to it. very nice.

my question is this - will the back sub box meet perfectly with the new console? because from what ive seen that box dosnt quite meet up exactally correct. its a little off.. did you fix this?

I'm not exactly sure what you are refering to. It has the same shape on the box as the back of the console does and it is about 1/8" apart. That is what was required from the owner.

Is that what you were talking about? If not could you link the pic here and I will be happy to explain.

And thanks for the compliments.

right there in the corners. the box is squared and the armrest is rounded. any reason for this? everything matches up so well except this.

dont get me wrong, by all means, this box\console is amazing work. great job on it! i love the steering wheel lcd too. you are very good at all this fiberglass work, im just curious.

i also cant wait to see how this all looks inside, im kinda sad that the armrest is still grey, is there any kind of vynl dye or somthing you can paint it with that will actually DYE the rubber, rather than paint it?

OK, I see what you mean about the box and console coming together.

That is the way it is in that pic, but it isn't that bad in person, it is just a bad pic.

And about the armrest.....do you mean the vinyl armrest on the console? If so, I changed it to black vinyl. I guess in the pics you can't really tell.

oh, well thats good news =) i thought it was still grey!

phew. great work man, hopefully i can use your guide and get my work done soon. i had a hell of a time on saturday morning with my brand new angle grinder. i got a few holes where i had some bubbles in some thin spots, but that can be sorted fairly eaisly.

i still needed 2~4 layers on the back, so 3~5 layers isnt too bad.

i grinded the whole outside + any bumps on my box. ill get some pics of it (already taken) uploaded today or tomrrow =) you can see my old sealed at ~.5 cubes in my gallery.
