Received this unit as an early Christmas present. My wife knew I was looking into upgrading my home theater unit, however, she knows nothing about what I was wanting. I am upgrading the unit to the $2000 Denon AVR-4311ci. I am wanting to do 9.2 surround sound and externally amplify my subwoofers and front speakers with an external amplifier. These Denon units have the exact same amplifier's from the AVR-391 all the way up to the AVR-3311ci. Denon rates their lower end models at 8 ohms and the higher end models with a 6 ohm load. All units can do either 6 or 8 ohm speakers. This unit is barely a month old and comes with everything such as the manual, remote control and the Audyssey auto tuning microphone. With Denon, a monkey could set this up thanks to the Audyssey microphone. Very simple and easy to use. Will come delivered boxed in the original manufactures' box. Was purchased from Best Buy so it retains its manufacturer's warranty.
Its a great receiver. Just missing the ability to do 9.2. Instead, it does 7.1. You can have as many subwoofers you want, you just add a splitter, but most people dont run more than one subwoofer. I am wanting the dual subwoofer capability so I can change the level, EQ, and crossovers because I am upgrading to one 15" sub and one 10" sub, so I need that ability.
$450 + Shipping. Save money at a discounted price, from an authorized dealer (I havent resgistered the warranty yet so its all yours) and save on the tax.
FYI, something I learned from my friend who installs Home Theater systems in multi-million dollar houses in the DFW area, AG Productions, is to make sure your receiver came from an authorized dealer. As most manufacturers, Denon will not honor their warranty or do any firmware upgrades for free. This came from Best Buy and I have not registered this unit with Denon.
This unit also upconverts any source to 1080p
I was using this unit as a 5.2 unit using:
5 Panasonic speakers
My old school Technics tower speakers with a 1.5" dome tweeter, 4 inch midrange and a 12" subwoofers
Pioneer powered subwoofer
Panasonic 6.5" subwoofer.
I ran the unit for 3 days and snuck in the AVR-4311
I have already upgraded to the AVR-4311ci and will soon upgrade to Paradigm Monitor 9 speakers and a Cadence 15" powered Subwoofer and about to get the 10" woofer.
Here is a video of the unit working. I took it out of the box again to demonstrate that it does indeed work. Sorry for the shakiness. I was using my Android 2 phone.
I am listing this as New, because I used this for a week and upgraded to the one I wanted. I swapped it out and my wife didnt even notice.
