New to the forum, new to car audio. I had a using a Elemental Designs Flat-Cone series subwoofer for like half a year until it broke, discouraging me from really getting into car audio like I wanted to. Been reading the forum and some other sites for a long time trying to learn about product/company quality and general audio theory/design. Call me Pits if ya want. Anyway,-
So I've dived into car audio, head first. This should all be arriving this coming week:
Clarion DXZ765MP
DEI D2205 5-Channel Amp
Kicker 2005 S15L5 - Dual 2
Boston Acoustics PRO60
Lots of good wires (twisted/thick/high strand count)
Will be installed in a MKIV Volkswagen Golf GTI. Was thinking about running the 4 channels bridged to 2ch. at 4ohms, for 250 x2 RMS. I heard the Pro 60s can run of 300 a chann. daily, so this sounded like a good medium between suggested RMS (125 x2 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif) and 300+..
The 5th sub channel on the DEI is 600 x1 @ 1ohm. Will be connecting the 15" 2006 L5 to it, wired to 1 ohm.. Perhaps under-powered eh? Will be putting it in 3 Cubes SEALED.. No joke! I would prefer the SQ of sealed, and with cone area of an 18 I'm hoping it can keep up with the PRO60's.. Maybe not enough power for sealed though.
Chose the DXZ765MP because it was the only HU from a reputable company with a 24bit DAC + 6 Channel out at decent voltage. Also, a couple features appealed to me. All on Stock Alt. but will be doing The Big 3 with 0awg. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif (Future proof, higher Alt..?)
Point of this post was to just introduce myself, and I REALLY wanted to know what you guys think about any of these items, or all of them in combination. Did I make decent decisions for SQ? I would LOVE to get any type of feedback, advice is 110% welcome!
