Neg to engine chasis a must when doing a big 3 upgrade???????????

My big 3 right now consists of: negative to chassis, negative to alt bracket, jumper from alt bracket to engine block, and obviously a positive run from alt charging stud.

yeah but I've seen someone on youtube I believe it was, had neg to engine ground, then negative to chasis ground and I'm trying to figure why having it grounded at engine is required?

unless since you are upgrading wiring to Alt then having the upgraded Alt ground is necessary or better?

If you do the positive, gotta do the negative. Same effect as if you ran a 1/0 positive and a 4 awg negative.
nah I know do the negative but was wondering why having the negative to engine chasis as well as negative to chasis ground was necessary?

maybe the other guy answered it in talking about the circular path.

In a youtube vid I believe it was, a guy had 2 negative 1/0 wires coming off battery. One to engine ground, the other to chasis ground

You need to ground the engine block to the frame, because the block is where your alt is grounded. Factory block to frame ground may not be the best.

so then that 3rd wire is necessary then and you're saying best to run that 2nd ground as stated?

the young kid though in one of those videos , he didn't have the 2nd ground because he had to get more wire. His volts stayed around 14 I believe if I recall correctly after he hooked up the positive to alternator and the negative to to alt bracket. Actually just looked at video again and his volts with music on after just the upgrade ( minus the 2nd ground wire), it hit 13.94 at lowest
