Need help with my Grand Cherokee

Ok, well I have a 97 Grand Cherokee w/ the Infinity sound system. Now I hear a lot of people saying it is a good factory system but I am not getting to hear it sound good because some of the speakers are blown. I will be installing an amp for a sub as soon as I find a place to run the wire through the firewall.

But first I want to cover the main problem. Whenever I turn the volume about half or more the music cuts out. It did it with the factory HU and it does it with the Alpine I installed also. What could be the problem? If I get this taken care of I would think about just buying replacement speakers for it.

Also, I hear it is difficult to bypass the factory amp. Why is this? Does someone make a harness for this? I would like to run comps up front if I can't figure out the music cutting out.

the infinity system *****. my jeep had nothing but problems with the stock system. to bypass it all you have to do is unhook the blue wire in your hu harness but you will loose your radio because that shuts off the power antena.

So basically I would only be able to play Cds? I need a real solution here. I need to hear my music loud!!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

You said that you have blown speakers; sometimes that can cause an amp to shut down. Replace the speakers and see if the problem continues.

Jeep Infinity amps are tricky to bypass because they have separate channels with crossovers built into them for the dash tweeters. If you bypass you have to use an external crossover (replacing the door/dash speakers with a component set will work well) or give up the dash speaker. A 4-channel head unit output can't do a good job running all the speakers.
