title says it. it's a 07-08 model (black version) kicker solo X 18" for 400!! CHEAP! so maybe because one of the voice coil dont work i dont know but we are going over there today to buy it.

i know how to inspect a speaker for scratch or anything broken or loose wires in the voice coil. but i never attempt to use a DMM before. how do i properly test a kicker solo X 18" to make sure im not buying a broken sub?

You should be able to tell if it's broken. The main thing that goes wrong with the Solo-X is the SPAIR (cone) will need to be replaced. It's painfully obvious when the cone is done-zo.

just to add a bit more security if i hook up my DMM to ohm and read one side of the vc and the sub are 2ohm should the DMM read exactly 2ohm or near it? how do i know it's going bad? anybody got picture of example when a voice coil is bad? maybe a bad voice coil would read 0 ohm? i still havent purchase the sub yet the dude said to come tomorrow cuz he wasnt home yet

yehh it wouldnt really read at all if its blown

And as long as its close to 2 it should be good....touch ur pos and neg on DMM together and see what it reads...minus that from the number u get when touchin subs

Works for me

also make sure the SPAIR is in the motor when you read the resistance and make sure you don't have anything sitting on the sub when you meter it.

Anything blowing or moving the cone will give you a weird reading.

In my old truck if I had a door open and tried to meter the coils I'd get fluctuating readings lol
