For as long as I can remember I've dreamed of designing and building a box that was tuned super low. There was just something intriguing about pushing the limits of how low you could tune in a mobile application. Getting loud around 35-60 hz is fine and dandy for some, but I'd rather sacrifice some SPL to feel the rumble of the 20-30hz range.

So I built this box. It's 2.5 cuft. tunable at 33hz, 28hz, and 24hz. I used 2 4" PVC pipes instead of conventional aeroports since I was on a budget. The ports stick out of the box enough to add a 90* elbow to each. Without the elbow, it's 33hz, with elbow it's 28hz. Add a 12 inch extension to those elbows and you have an enclosure tuned at 24hz.

The sub used is a 12 Fi SSD. Nothing terribly expensive or monstrous. Just enough to handle to 500rms at my disposal.

I nearly pooped a little the first time I heard the Bass Mix of In the Air Tonight. Truly, you have to feel it firsthand to believe. I'd highly encourage anyone to build a box tuned this low at least once.

Did you mess with port angles? Looks like fun. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I pointed both ports towards the passenger. Honestly, I didn't think it made much of a difference. If anything, it's marginally louder pointed straight up.

Wish I could keep this setup. I'm replacing the sub with a DC Level 3 15. My first ever 15 at that. I'll probably only have room for a 30hz tuning. Shouldn't take long to get over once I hear how it pressurizes the turdmobile.
