Do you think the old Bulls team could win a championship today?
Hard to say. That team they had in Jordan: act 2 I think could have. But most other teams from the past I don't think could. Different eras make it tough to compare a good team from today with a good team from yesterday.

Icetee and I were discussing it the other day and I don't think they could. I don't think Jordan would have been as good as he is. The league has gotten taller & more athletic. They would just stick a guy 6'8 on Jordan and make his fadeaways that much tougher. Not to mention that Pippen was never really that great of a player, but the Bulls really had nobody else. Wil Perdue, BJ Armstrong, Bill Winnington, Steve Kerr. They really didn't have a strong bench or anybody to go to other than Jordan and Pippen. I just think the league has evolved and to win it now you need 2 good players and a few good role players.

San Antonio = Duncan, Parker, Ginobli......(Horry, Barry...etc)

LA Lakers = Shaq, Bryant.....(Fisher, Horry, George)

Detroit = Hamilton, Billups, Wallace x2 (Prince, Arroyo, Hunter, Okur)

don't forget about Dennis Rodman from the Bulls good days. Top defender and rebounding!

To me you just answered your own statement. Guys like Pippen, Perdue, BJ, Kerr, etc... weren't great players but with Michael Jordan he made them all great if not legendary to be apart of that team. There isn't another player in the game with the possible exception of Nash and Kidd that make the players around them that much better. Jordan was electric, you could have stuck someone of Dirk's size and Gary Payton's quickness (when he was in his prime) to guard him and that fadeway still would have gone in.

IMO today's games are a snoozefest compared to the old Jazz vs. Bulls matchups...

I agree that Jordan was electric, but if he has a subpar game, there is nobody else to step up. Every one of those players played off of him. When they went to other teams, they weren't nearly as effective. I just think they are a roll player or 2nd star player from being able to beat today's championship caliber teams. Back then, Jordan was a pretty big SG @ 6'6 or 6'5. Now it's nothing new to see a PG that's 6'4-6'6, and SG 6'5 to 6'8. You can't go back to a championship team in recent years that hasn't had a goody center. The bulls were the last team to win it with a mediocre center at best. Even as good as Lebron and Kobe are, there teams are still 1 to 2 players away from making the finals. Look who Lebron has. Ilgauskas & Hughes. Then Damon Jones off the bench which is comparable to a Steve Kerr.

Also, I forgot to throw Kukoc in the mix, but I think the first Bulls championship team 91-93 IIRC, would have a harder time winning the championship than would the 96-98 Bulls Team.

Yeah, but he's still no Ben Wallace. Rodman was a good rebounder, but Wallace has all the markers of a good defensive player.
I don't know. In Rodman's best days, he might be close to what Ben Wallace is now. I don't think Ben will ever average over 18rpg... and Rodman was a defensive player of the year also. I think outside of all Rodman's games and attitude issues, they are pretty close.

Well it took Wallace a while to develop, but aside from rebounding, he blocks more shots and creates more steals. I just think in his prime compared to rodman in his prime that Wallace is the better all around defender. He's more versatile than Rodman, you can put Wallace on any center in the league and he's going to hold his own. Not so much with Rodman.

He's more or less talking about great teams that have won a championship though. Where as the players you've listed have not.

If you want to go that route

Shaq, Wade, Williams....(Walker, Payton, Mourning)
