Mystery eBay vintage horn n speakers...

I bought these off of eBay still sealed in their weird unmarked foam package, I opened it today and worrrrrd son

Turns out they're Magnavox speaker sets from the 60s and I think these are direct-replacement parts, maybe they're used in those huge record player table thing? Can't find any more info on these but they do sound pretty good, it has that "in your face" sound from the horn tweeter and the woofer has treated cloth surrounds so it didn't rot.

Anyone here heard of the old Advent Large model 1 home speakers with the fried egg-looking tweeter? These sounds like them.

I have some Zenith 15" Alnicos with a similar horn in an open-rear-baffle enclosure, and they are about as distant soundingnfrom Large Advents as they get...

The drivers I'm speaking of are VERY similar to yours, btw.

My Zenith speakers sound phenomenally good. They go super low, and the midrange and treble are just out of this world...if they could handle 500 watts rms each like my Infinity RS 2.5's, I would run the Zeniths instead. That's how damn good they sound!

Definitely. No use for a low excursion low power-handling alnico woofer in a car imho. The horns would do nice, but if I wanted horns in a car, I would go for some even more efficient ones.

Yeah these have good sensitivity since it was designed to get loud from the few watts those tube amps can manage.

Yep! But these aren't harsh like the majority of horns I have dealt with (but they aren't as efficient as most)
