you can brace it with dowels, threaded rods (and bolts) or you can run a chunk of MDF from the middle to the back. it helps support the box become stronger, less vibrations, more output basically

yep. if the top is off. make a square pice that will go in the middle of the box between the holes,

Top is still off.. By square piece you mean double up on the MDF between the cutouts?

just run a scrap piece of MDF across the top, but make sure its not too large to block air flow, just a few inches is fine, one on top, one on bottom
