My trusty Profile CA 400m got wet and died

It was under the back seat of my truck and a 3-gallon jug of water sprung a leak and got it wet. I heard the sub go out and when I check it was dead. I was a great sub, so I'm looking for a new one but I can't find one and Profile doesn't sell them anymore.

What else can you guys suggest in the same (under $100) price range?

Why not try using a CA600 bridged? More power. Only $69 + shipping. Comes with a 1 year warranty.

I had an amp under my front seat that i pulled out to mess with, and then snow dripped off my feet as i was turned around ****in with something else.... poof came the smoke... made me wanna cry. But it was an MA audio amp, so no worries, i run better stuff now.

I took DJ”s advice and bought the CA600. It arrived yesterday and bridged the sub (1+/1-) it and everything works great, however I’m noticing the on/off thump. I talked to a buddy of mine and he said it was normal. But I called Profile and they said it wasn’t that their slow start circuitry should handle it. I don’t remember if my old CA400M did it. I think it might have but the new CA600 is much more noticeable.

Is the extra 100 watts making the thump? Will it harm my sub?

i don't think it will harm it but it wont help either. just stay within the recomended wattage.

Sorry but what do you mean? What needs to stay within the recommended wattage, the sub or amp? Both are matched evenly, meaning the sub is rated at 300W as well as the amp.

well then if the noise you hear is bothering you and profile tell it ain't normal then exchange it or get a better amp you wont have to bridge, but common sense tell us that it should work fine unless there's something wrong with the install or amp itself.
