Ok so im in school for digital audio production and so we are dealing with Db's and such. Me and him got into a discussion about it because I was relating it to audio systems and he said he used to install them and he was saying the db of a jet plane taking off was 140 I believe. So I said yea but whats the record for a car audio system I said isnt it over 160 and he said no way it would blow the car apart that it couldnt be more than 140.

There's a lot of difference between 140dB at a specific frequency, and 140dBA, which is what your teacher was probably thinking of.

Also the 140dB's of the jet takeoff is a difrent fq than that of the cars...
