I fail to see a problem, I work 12 hour days which means my dog is in a crate 15 hours a day a few times a week. It took a while but he has learned to hold it and has become a better dog regardless of how much pain he had to go through to get there.all your doing is teaching your dog to be afraid of you yes eventually it works know y eventually puppies become dogs whom can hold their blatters longer and are not teething anymore so dont need to chew on everything in sight
Did your parents not spank you as a kid, grab your ear and pull you away from something when you ignored them or smacked you in the face for talking back?
Basically the same thing with dogs though they are only canines so you have to use a bit more power and force but it does work.
